The Best Records of 2011
2010 Was an exceptional year in which my cup ran far over for the top 10, with at least four additional LPs that richly deserved inclusion and even a year later I'm not sure I made the right decisions about which ones to leave off. one particular album eclipsed all others, the best thing I've listened to and reviewed in years, and while there were other wonderful records out (particularly #2-4 below, which would near the top of any year's list), nothing really stood a chance... This year was a different beast, and a more familiar one. By my count, in 2011 I listened to 81 new albums (the same as last year, weirdly), and ended up hearing nineteen I loved enough to add to the permanent collection. Those numbers include remix albums and mixtapes....
A very off topic mommy/life/facebook/family/friends rant
i get it, i use it, i love it. but what i don't love is going to look at the latest feed and seeing complaint after complaint, gossip, trash talking spouses, trash talking people who you feel the need to note, in the very status that you're... I traded in weekly mani/pedis for naps and sippy cups. I complain and I resort back to my former bratty diva ways from time to time, but at the end of the day, I love life as a stay at home mom (minus the cleaning. I stopped self tanning so much because it turned my kids skin orange =]. I know whats in style because I read Vogue and Glamour, but I'm working too hard on getting back to my pre-baby body to give in and buy new clothes. i know this....
