WICA Presents FROST/NIXON, Now thru 6/23

11.07.12
I see the form of Peter Morgan 's Frost/Nixon as acutely aligned with its content, a play reflecting a time of chaos within a tightly organized frame. Featuring Jim Scullin as David Frost and Ken Church as Richard Nixon, Peter Morgan 's acclaimed play visits a famously disruptive era in American history. With another election in view, Frost/Nixon could not be more timely. Frost/Nixon opens at WICA June 8th, boasting the finest cast and crew I've had the good fortune to work with since directing Glengarry Glen Ross. the tragedy of Vietnam and Cambodia, Nixon's long-standing refusal to admit his role in the Watergate scandal, and the subsequent disintegration of an already weakened trust in government. In other words, a play presented in a fundamentally traditional theatrical form, but rife with conflicting values&mdash. In his struggle to humanize the participants in our nation's disgrace, Morgan's look back in anger provides a timely opportunity for reassessment of our current...

Minnesota Twins: 7 Things to Watch for in the Second Half of the Year

11.07.12
After opening the season with a 6-16 record in April, the Twins have been getting steadily better, with a 12-16 record in May, a 14-13 record in June and 4-4 so far in July. Unfortunately for the Minnesota Twins and their fans, the 2012 season has been an extension of 2011, proving that last season was not an aberration. At least for now, the Twins are not the worst team in baseball, or even the worst team in the American League, thanks to the Seattle Mariners, who own two more losses. After 81 games this season, the Twins have the same exact record as last year at 35-46. They finished 2011 with a 63-99 record, marking the most losses since the 1982 Twins lost 102. There have been glimpses that the Twins are not as bad as their record.
